The Charity City Project team visited a poor family this morning, the 5th of January 2018, to exemplify the below biblical injunction that obligates us to show love to those that are sick and needy,
Matthew 25: 36-40 says
Verse36: I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’ Verse37:“Then these righteous ones will reply…….. Verse39:When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
Verse40:“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
Mrs. Okafor is experiencing a traumatic life of agony and hopelessness, being saddled with the responsibility of caring for her 14 years old child, Nonso, who has been paralyzed from birth. According to her, Nonso was born a normal child, until he had a Jaundice infection when he was just 3 months old.. He was taken to the General Hospital in Lagos where he had a blood transfusion and since then the boy became paralyzed losing the ability to sit or walk like his age mate. The boy is completely dependent on the family members for everything. In the midst of her ordeal, the husband ran away from home, about 3 years ago, abandoning her to cater for Nonso and 4 other kids alone.
During the Christmas period when she visited our office to collect some food items for the family, her passionate appeal was that she needed a wheel chair for Nonso, as the wheel chair would ease the burden of carrying Nonso on her back when they needed to go anywhere. The Charity City Project team decided to grant her heart desire by presenting a wheel chair to Nonso at their family house at No. 30 Zion street Ajegunle today. On seeing the wheel chair her face brightened up and she became highly elated. The team also promised to support her with some money to start a more profitable business as she presently sells Liquid pap- “ ogi” and the proceeds is not enough to cater for a family of 7 hence she needs to start a new business
We want to appreciate the almighty God for the privilege to serve humanity and we also want to appreciate our beloved brothers and sisters who are supporting us financially to make this work possible. Your generous donations have made the work much easier for us. God bless you all,
